DDI Seat Jacker
06/19/2026
Continuing my mission to eliminate every little thing that annoys me about this truck, the next item on the list is seat comfort. I've been making this 45-minute commute for about nine months now, and somewhere around the 30-minute mark I start squirming around trying to get comfortable. What begins as a little lower back discomfort slowly turns into full-blown body repositioning as I search for a spot that doesn't hurt. Not exactly the ideal way to start the day.
Like most people, I get bombarded with ads for products I immediately ignore. One of those products was DDI Seat Jackers. I've probably seen the ad a hundred times and never gave it a second thought.
Then one morning I got the ad after a particularly uncomfortable drive. Suddenly it seemed like a brilliant idea. After reading a handful of reviews and finding very few complaints, I added them to the cart. A few days later they showed up at my door and I couldn't wait to see if they lived up to the hype.
Installation is about as straightforward as it gets. Unbolt the front of the seat, install the spacers, and bolt everything back together. DDI includes everything needed for the install, including thread locker, which I always appreciate.
Of course, this wouldn't be a proper 4Runner Files install if everything went perfectly.
The first surprise was the plastic trim cover on the left side seat bracket. Since this was a somewhat impulsive purchase, I hadn't really looked at any installation photos beforehand. I wasn't sure how the trim would fit once the front of the seat was raised, but thankfully it ended up looking perfectly acceptable.
The second issue involved my under-seat subwoofer. The ground wire was attached to the front driver-side seat mount, which was now occupied by the seat jacker. I rerouted the ground to the rear passenger-side seat mount and verified everything was still functioning properly before buttoning it all back up.
With everything installed, I climbed into the driver's seat for the moment of truth.
First impressions are positive. The seating position immediately feels more supportive, especially under my legs. I'll probably need a few days to fine-tune the rest of the seat adjustments, but even sitting in the driveway I could tell there was a noticeable difference.
One thing that surprised me was how subtle the modification looks once installed. I expected the front of the seat to sit much higher than it does. Looking closely, you can see that the rear portion of the spacer doesn't perfectly follow the contour of the floor and sticks up ever so slightly. It's minor enough that nobody would ever notice it unless they critique things as aggressively as I do.
The real test will be a week of commuting. I'll report back after a few hundred miles.
If these eliminate my daily game of "find a comfortable position before work," they'll easily be one of the most worthwhile upgrades I've done.
