Retrofit Headlights
03/19/2023
After the whole BXBuilt fiasco—where they closed up shop and left me high and dry on the headlights I’d ordered—I got lucky with OPT Offroad. They just happened to have the exact setup I’d been planning to build with BX, already in stock and ready to ship. Yeah, it cost a few hundred more, but all I had to do was bolt them in and wire them up. Totally worth it.
I’ve been slacking on photos lately, but this one was a spur-of-the-moment install anyway. I was already outside doing something else and thought, “Eh, I can toss these headlights in real quick.” And honestly, it was quick. No baking glue, no painting housings, no aligning bulbs—just a few 10mm bolts and done.
Since I love the all-amber look, I spliced the switchback halos into the DRLs with a little solder and electrical tape. The wiring was the hardest part, just because I can’t stand messy installs. But the harness didn’t have much excess, so I was able to tuck everything away pretty cleanly.
Really happy with how these turned out—super clean, tons of light, and that amber glow just looks mean. Can’t wait to see how they do on the drive to work tomorrow.
